I really like the challenges at the More Than Words-blog, and now I finally found the time to enter for the first time.
The January challenge is Celebrate and Bling, and this is my take on it.
The photo shows my daughter at Christmas Eve, having fun decorating herself with the ribbons from the gifts she was opening.
I decided to go with black and gold. A combination I've never tried before, at least not for a layout. The patterned paper from Papirdesign got some strokes with black Gesso. Then I mixed soft gel medium with gold Mica powder and applied through a stencil.
At first I thought the gold looked too reddish, and wouldn't match the other gold elements I wanted to use. But decided to go with it anyway, and actually using two different shades of gold just made it more interesting.
I combined pieces of paper, vellum, doilies and chipboard behind the photo. The gorgeous chipboard comes from SnipArt, and I almost felt bad for cutting it into pieces....
Some washitape, glitter hearts, lots of sequins and bling.
I also splattered with white gesso and gold ink.
Not easy to take good photos this time of year, but the layout is sure sparkling in real life.
And I love how sometime things turn out even better than your original plan.
